Symbiosis is an artwork in memory of my daughter, Joy Lillian Palmer, who was born and passed heaven-side on February 12th 2019.

The flower buds imitate a beautiful life which never had the chance to fully bloom. The only flower which is in full bloom is the white lily, representing purity and rebirth. Small vines weave down her face, immortalising her as a statue of hope and new growth. The hints of blue on her body symbolise my tears, and the scrawls and words surrounding her embody the mess of loss.

This print comforts and acknowledges everyone who has lost a loved one.

Symbiosis is the interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, to the advantage of both.

This print comes with a postcard-sized explanation card.

20% of all profits from my prints sold go to Trust Teina, a charitable trust run by Debbie and Pio Terei. Their vision and mission is “The Ultimate Koha” – Giving to save Māori and Pasifika lives through increasing the blood, bone marrow and organ donor registers in Aotearoa New Zealand.
